About this position
Tu/e is recruiting a Postdoc in estimation and control of hybrid dynamical systems for buildings and robots within the Dynamics and Control section of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
The project sits at the intersection of mathematical control theory, nonlinear and hybrid dynamical systems, state and parameter estimation, and optimization. The successful candidate will work on new methods for estimation and control with applications to climate and crowd control in buildings, with a particular emphasis on handling modelling uncertainty. The role also includes collaboration with industry partners, helping translate theory into practice.
The research environment is positioned within Eindhoven University of Technology, a leading international university in the Netherlands with a strong engineering focus and close ties to the high-tech ecosystem of Brainport Eindhoven. The Dynamics and Control section aims to understand and predict the dynamics of complex engineering systems and to develop advanced strategies for control, estimation, planning, learning, and diagnostics for intelligent autonomous systems.
Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a PhD in systems and control and have a strong background in nonlinear/hybrid dynamical systems, control, and optimization. Publication record in top journals and flagship conferences is expected, and experience with at least one programming language such as Matlab or Python is required. Strong teamwork skills, the ability to collaborate across academic and industrial settings, and fluent English are also important.
Employment and funding: this is a full-time temporary postdoc position for 1 year. The salary is in accordance with Dutch university collective agreements, at scale 10, from €4,422 to €5,760 gross per month, plus an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus. Additional benefits include leave options, pension, training opportunities, and support services for international staff.
Application window: the post remains open until filled, with a stated application deadline of 2026-10-07. Applications must be submitted online and should include a cover letter, CV, publication list, contact details for three references, up to five best publications, and a brief explanation of interest in the proposed topic.
