About this position

KTH Royal Institute of Technology is seeking up to three postdoctoral researchers in High-Performance Computing (HPC) at the KTH Center for Scientific Computing (KCSC) in Stockholm, Sweden.

The project is part of the SSF-funded SEESSI initiative, which aims to prepare Sweden’s flagship scientific codes for next-generation hardware. The researchers will work closely with three major open-source and scientific software ecosystems: GROMACS for molecular dynamics, Neko for computational fluid dynamics, and VeloxChem for quantum chemistry.

The central research theme is technology-aware HPC software science. The successful candidates will develop innovative algorithmic and software techniques that improve performance, portability, and energy efficiency on modern and post-exascale systems. Key areas include mixed-precision algorithms, GPU-centric and data-centric communication strategies, and redesigning kernels and data access patterns for heterogeneous architectures.

This is a research-intensive postdoctoral appointment with strong opportunities to publish in high-profile international venues and contribute directly to upstream codebases with a wide global user base. The role is especially well suited to candidates with interests in scientific computing, HPC software engineering, algorithm design, and performance optimization.

Eligibility highlights include a doctoral degree or equivalent foreign degree obtained within the last three years before the application deadline. Preferred experience includes performance modeling and optimization for heterogeneous systems, development experience in molecular dynamics, CFD, or quantum chemistry software, and collaboration on large-scale scientific software projects.
