About this position

Postdoctoral position at Lund University / MAX IV: High-throughput SAXS/WAXS for lipid nanoparticle structure and function.

This is a 36-month postdoctoral fellowship in the CoSAXS beamline environment at MAX IV, hosted jointly with the Edler Group at Lund University in Sweden. The project focuses on soft matter physics, structural biology, nanomedicine, and advanced data analysis, with the goal of developing next-generation high-throughput SAXS/WAXS methods for understanding the structure, formation, and function of solid lipid nanoparticles.

The successful candidate will design and perform synchrotron SAXS/WAXS experiments, build high-throughput workflows for nanoparticle characterization, analyze scattering data using computational approaches, and contribute to method development for complex nanoparticle systems. The work also includes collaboration with researchers at ESS and ISIS as part of the ESS First Science initiative on the lifecycle of a lipid nanoparticle.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD in a relevant science area (for example biophysics or lipid/amphiphile-based physical chemistry), proven SAXS/WAXS expertise, experience with synchrotron experiments and data interpretation, scripting-based data analysis (ideally Python), and strong English communication skills. AMBER eligibility also requires a PhD awarded within the last 8 years, at least one peer-reviewed publication, and compliance with the MSCA mobility rule for Sweden.

Funding: full-time fixed-term postdoctoral employment, funded through the AMBER Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND programme. The post is salaried; no stipend amount is stated.

Application deadline: 24 August 2026. Applications must be submitted through the AMBER portal in English as a PDF, including the required CV, research plan, English evidence, ICDP draft, reference letters, and ethics documents.
