Postdoc in Historical Sociology of Moral Elites (Sociology / Political Science) Copenhagen Business School in Denmark

Postdoc opportunity at Copenhagen Business School (CBS) in the historical sociology of moral elites, based in the Department of Business Humanities and Law. The position is part of the ERC Starting Grant project Moral Elites: The Historical Positioning of Civil Society Leaders in National Moral Economies (MORALITES).

The project examines how civil society elites shape moral economies across national contexts, with work packages covering Italy, Denmark, Poland, and the UK. The postdoc will be attached to the methods and analysis work package and will focus on collecting and analysing data across the project.

Research areas and methods: historical sociology, elite studies, civil society, welfare state, discourse, and comparative historical analysis. The project specifically uses Multiple Correspondence Analysis, Social Network Analysis, and Discourse Network Analysis on biographical, career, and position-taking data.

Eligibility: applicants must hold a PhD in sociology or political science. Experience with the listed methods or similar quantitative/qualitative historical social science methods is required. Knowledge of historical social science is an advantage. Strong academic track record, empirical research skills, teamwork, communication skills, and proficiency in English are expected. The candidate should be able to attend meetings in Copenhagen regularly.

Funding and duration: this is a 2-year full-time postdoc position. It may be extended by 1 additional year of teaching obligations depending on fit with teaching needs. Salary and appointment conditions follow CBS/Ministry of Finance rules.
