About this position

Postdoctoral position in intestinal regeneration and mucosal immunology at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU), based in Odense M, Denmark. The project is hosted in the lab of Dr. Srustidhar Das within the Department of Clinical Research and the Research Unit of Inflammation Research / Department of Molecular Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences.

The postdoc will work on a translational research programme focused on how inflammation reshapes the intestinal epithelium and tissue niche, how epithelial memory and plasticity affect regeneration, and how these processes can be targeted to improve mucosal healing in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Research methods and themes include patient-derived intestinal organoids, fibroblast and immune-cell co-cultures, molecular biology, functional assays, CRISPR-engineered organoids, engraftment models, and computational analysis of single-cell and spatial datasets (scRNA-seq, scATAC-seq, spatial transcriptomics, spatial epigenomics). The role is especially suitable for candidates who can bridge experimental biology and bioinformatics.

Requirements: a PhD in a relevant field such as molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, bioinformatics, computational biology, regenerative medicine or biomedicine; documented organoid experience; strong background in epithelial biology / tissue regeneration / mucosal immunology / inflammatory disease; proficiency in R and/or Python; reproducible computational workflows; and hands-on molecular and cell biology skills. Excellent English and a strong publication record are expected.

Funding and terms: full-time 100% postdoc for two years, with possible extension subject to funding. Salary follows the Danish state salary scale (steps 4–8) plus allowances. Foreign applicants are offered Danish language training.

Deadline: 1 November 2026. Applications must be submitted electronically via the SDU “Apply now” portal and include a motivation letter, CV, degree certificates, publication list, three selected publications, teaching portfolio, research experience description, and other relevant qualifications.
