About this position

Postdoc in Large Language Model Inferencing at KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm, Sweden) in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

This postdoctoral opening is part of an ambitious 5-year Wallenberg Scholar project, Scalable and adaptive inferencing for democratizing AI, focused on dramatically reducing the cost and power required to serve large language models such as ChatGPT. The research combines distributed systems, computer networks, machine learning inference, and agentic frameworks, with experimental systems work in collaboration with faculty and doctoral students.

The position will involve design, implementation, and evaluation of distributed systems and networks for ML inference, plus related machine learning concepts. The successful candidate will contribute to scientific publications and new grant applications, working with Professor Dejan Kostic and Associate Professor Marco Chiesa.

Requirements: doctoral degree (or equivalent) by the time of appointment; strong background in distributed systems, networking, programming, and operating systems; excellent English; strong critical thinking; very good skills in C++, Python, Linux, and scripting; motivation to experiment and explore; and a record of international publications in journals or top conferences.

Preferred: PhD obtained within the last three years, teaching ability, collaboration skills, independence, awareness of diversity/equal opportunity issues, and experience with machine learning, GPU programming, or large-scale inference systems.

Funding/employment: full-time temporary postdoctoral employment for up to two years with monthly salary. No stipend amount is stated.

How to apply: submit your application in KTH's recruitment system. Include a CV, copies of diplomas and grades, and a brief statement explaining why you want to conduct research, your academic interests, and how they relate to your previous studies and future goals (max two pages).

Deadline: 21 October 2026.
