This position is centered on environmental economics, choice modelling, deliberative monetary valuation, discrete choice experiments, and climate-resilient rangeland restoration. The successful candidate will identify values, barriers, and opportunities related to the adoption of water bunds in Kenya, conduct fieldwork, develop a DMV protocol, collect and analyse choice data, estimate willingness to pay, and study how different social groups value bunds and what scaling tools may encourage adoption.

The project is funded by NWO (NL-CGIAR) and is carried out in collaboration with researchers from the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and the Tegemeo Institute in Nairobi, as well as Justdiggit and Kenyan NGO partners.
