The University of Luxembourg is recruiting a Postdoc in Peacebuilding and Shared Holy Places Research within the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance, Department of Economics and Management. The position is attached to the Horizon Europe project RE-SPHERE – Shared Places for Heritage, Encounter and Reconciliation in Europe, which investigates the role of shared holy places in peacebuilding, social cohesion, and sustainable recovery in post-conflict regions.

The successful candidate will work with Professor Skerdilajda Zanaj and contribute to empirical research with a strong socioeconomic and policy focus. The role involves collecting, managing, and analysing socioeconomic and geo-referenced datasets, applying quantitative and econometric methods, supporting longitudinal survey analysis, assisting with policy evaluation, and helping prepare project deliverables.

This postdoc is suitable for researchers with a background in economics, particularly political economy, and a strong interest in labour economics, public economics, migration, education, gender, regional development, or closely related socio-economic topics. The university is seeking candidates with proven ability to conduct autonomous post-doctoral research, contribute to collaborative projects, and work effectively both independently and in teams.

Applicants should have strong quantitative and empirical skills, including experience with econometric methods and statistical software, as well as solid IT and data-analysis capabilities. Experience presenting at conferences or publishing in peer-reviewed journals is considered important. Because the university operates in a multilingual environment, fluency in English is required, and knowledge of a second language, and possibly a third, is an advantage.
