About this position
Postdoc opportunity at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), Morocco. This 12-month postdoctoral position, renewable, is part of an applied research project on the integration of native vegetation beneath photovoltaic installations in semi-arid post-mine environments.
The project focuses on how vegetated photovoltaic systems can support soil stabilization, dust reduction, and microclimate improvement while also contributing to better solar-panel energy performance. The successful candidate will work on plant ecology and soil-plant interactions in a highly applied, field-oriented research setting with environmental relevance.
Research activities include the selection and characterization of native and local plant species such as grasses, legumes, and pollinator-friendly plants; germination, growth, and adaptation trials under semi-arid conditions; field trials on pilot sites; analysis of vegetation effects on microclimate; and study of soil-plant interactions including composition, moisture, and microbiology. The role also includes scientific dissemination through publications, reports, and communication of results.
The ideal candidate holds a PhD in plant ecology, environmental sciences, or a related field, with experience in phytomanagement, revegetation of degraded sites, and knowledge of Moroccan or Mediterranean native plants. Skills in plant propagation, biodiversity monitoring, ecological data collection, and laboratory techniques are expected. Strong teamwork, communication skills in English and French, and the ability to work safely and effectively under UM6P standards are important. Preferred assets include prior postdoctoral experience, environmental data analysis in R, multivariate statistics, GIS, and strong scientific writing.
Applications should include a cover letter, detailed CV, list of publications, copies of diplomas, and at least two professional references. The application deadline is not specified in the posting.
