About this position
University of Copenhagen is advertising a full-time postdoc in refugee mental health and co-creation at the Department of Public Health. The position is part of the SAMSKABT project, a research and practice-development initiative funded by the VELUX HUMpraxis programme and carried out with DIGNITY – Danish Institute Against Torture and Diversity Works.
The project aims to strengthen mental health and psychosocial support for refugees through closer collaboration between specialized treatment services, general practice, and civil society organizations. The postdoc will contribute to research on refugees’ experiences of psychological distress, pathways to care, and the development of co-created practices across sectors in Denmark.
Core work includes ethnographic fieldwork, qualitative interviews, collaborative analysis, mapping of mental health and psychosocial support pathways, participatory workshops, stakeholder engagement, pilot testing of co-created practice innovations, implementation activities, and scientific dissemination. The role sits in an interdisciplinary environment spanning public health, psychology, migration studies, global mental health, primary care, and implementation research.
Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant field and have strong experience with qualitative or participatory methods, a solid publication record, excellent English, and excellent spoken Danish. Experience with refugee or migrant mental health, the Danish healthcare system, community-based participatory research, co-creation, implementation research, or health services research is an advantage.
The appointment is for 27 months. The application deadline is 8 November 2026 at 23:59 CET. Apply online through the university portal and include a motivation letter, CV, PhD documentation, publication list, three selected publications, and references.
