Postdoc in Social and Financial Values of Cooperative Urban Development at Wageningen University & Research Wageningen University & Research in Netherlands

Wageningen University & Research (WUR) and the AMS Institute are recruiting a 1-year postdoc in urban economics focused on the social and financial values of cooperative urban development.

The project examines how cooperative ownership and development models in the housing and energy sectors can contribute to an affordable, sustainable, and equitable society. The research is based on empirical cases in Amsterdam and is closely connected to urban policy and investment questions.

You will work within the Urban Economics Group at WUR and from the AMS Institute, collaborating with the Municipality of Amsterdam and other urban partners. The role combines academic research with practical impact, including the development of analytical frameworks for integrated cost-benefit analysis, indicators, and methods to measure both societal and financial outcomes.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD in economics or a relevant field with strong quantitative analysis skills; experience measuring project performance using indicators and methodology; ability to conduct quantitative comparisons; Dutch language proficiency at least B1 for fieldwork; experience with interviews and stakeholder engagement; and a relevant network in Amsterdam is an advantage.

Funding and contract: one-year appointment with possible extension depending on performance and project circumstances. Salary is listed at €3,546–€5,538 gross per month for a 38-hour week, plus benefits such as a year-end bonus, pension, and leave options.
