About this position
Utrecht University is advertising a Postdoctoral Researcher position in the Department of Sociology within the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences in the Netherlands.
The project is titled “Family friendly organisational culture in European workplaces and gender (in)equality” and is part of the Horizon-funded REWORC programme, Reimagining Work and Care: Gender Equality, Couple Dynamics, and Policy Innovation in Europe. The wider consortium is led by King’s College London and includes partners across Europe.
The postdoc will work on social sciences, sociology, gender inequality, organisational culture, family-friendly policies, and work and care. The research uses the European Working Conditions Survey (EWCS) from 2005 to 2024 and the European Sustainable Workforce Survey (ESWS) from nine European countries, with a multilevel design and advanced statistical techniques. The role includes writing research papers and a policy brief, contributing to scenario-analysis with stakeholders, and participating in project meetings. Some teaching duties may be included depending on profile.
Applicants should have recently completed a PhD in sociology or a related social science, ideally connected to the project themes. The post also requires strong quantitative research skills, excellent English, the ability to produce publishable empirical work, clear communication of quantitative findings, and the capacity to work both independently and in an interdisciplinary team.
The appointment is temporary until 31 July 2030. The working week is 36–40 hours, with a gross monthly salary of €3,706 to €6,682 for full-time employment, plus holiday pay, year-end bonus, pension, and other employment benefits.
The application deadline is 27 September 2026. Apply through the Utrecht University portal using the Apply now button and submit a CV and motivation letter. For questions, contact Tanja van der Lippe at [email protected].
