About this position

DTU Compute at the Technical University of Denmark is advertising a Postdoc in Software Engineering based in Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark. The position sits in the Dynamical Systems Section and focuses on intelligent urban digital twins, with research on standardized architectures, interoperability frameworks, benchmark datasets, evaluation methodologies, and the bridge from research prototypes to real-world deployments.

The postdoc will work on applied European and national projects spanning cross-sector domains such as energy and mobility. The role emphasizes software architecture, reference architectures, architectural design patterns, software quality attributes (interoperability, scalability, modularity, extensibility, maintainability, reliability), microservice-based and cloud-native systems, edge and distributed software systems, and empirical evaluation/benchmarking of complex socio-technical platforms.

Responsibilities include conducting research, developing and evaluating software architectures and interoperability frameworks, designing benchmark datasets and validation methods, contributing to prototypes and large-scale demonstrations, supporting longitudinal evaluations in realistic urban settings, publishing in high-impact journals and conferences, and contributing to project deliverables, workshops, and dissemination.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent. The post calls for research experience in software engineering, distributed software systems, edge/cloud computing, and a strong publication record. Experience in collaborative national or European projects is an advantage. Strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to work independently and meet deadlines are expected.

Funding/employment: this is a 2-year full-time postdoctoral appointment under Danish collective agreement terms, with salary supplements negotiable according to DTU’s scientific staff structure.

Application deadline: 2026-09-06. Apply online and submit one PDF containing the cover letter, CV, academic diplomas (MSc/PhD), and publication list. CVs should be in EuroPass format and include language skills.

Contact persons listed in the post are Shahrzad Pour and Razgar Ebrahimy at DTU Compute.
