About this position

Postdoc in Solid-State Batteries – Scalable Production of Solid Electrolytes at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.

This 2-year postdoctoral project is part of the Swedish governmental battery initiative COMPEL, which supports excellence in battery research and education for the transport sector. The position is based at the Division of Process Technology and Resource Recovery in the Department of Chemical Engineering, and it focuses on the scalable production of ceramic solid electrolytes for next-generation solid-state batteries.

The research will develop scalable solvent-mediated processes for producing sulfide or halide electrolytes. A key objective is to control particle size distribution and morphology to achieve reproducible electrolyte performance. The project also addresses practical industrial challenges such as solvent recovery, solid-liquid separation, drying, and process intensification, with the broader aim of generating process concepts that can support industrial manufacturing of solid-state battery materials.

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree, or an equivalent foreign degree, in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. English proficiency is required. Strong laboratory and instrumental skills are expected, and preferred qualifications include a recent PhD, experience in solid-state batteries and material synthesis, independent working ability, creativity, and strong teamwork skills.

The role is a temporary full-time postdoctoral appointment for up to two years. The start date is listed as 2026-10-01 or according to agreement. The application deadline is 2026-08-15.
