About this position
Postdoctoral position in systems biology, molecular & cell biology, genomics, yeast biology, and biochemistry at the University of California, Berkeley.
The Staller lab in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology is recruiting a postdoc for a collaborative project on how folded protein domains drive transcription factor filament formation and how this affects cooperative DNA binding, transcriptional activation, transcriptional repression, and gene regulation. The lab combines experiments, theory, computational modeling, simulations, machine learning, and evolutionary comparison, with work spanning yeast, human, and plant transcription factors.
The role includes molecular biology and computational work such as DNA isolation, PCR, Illumina sequencing library preparation, yeast cell culture, functional assays in yeast, high-throughput screens, cloning large plasmid libraries, experimental design, data analysis, manuscript preparation, presentations, grant support, and mentoring.
Funding is provided through the project; the position is a 100% postdoc employee appointment with an estimated salary of $71,491–$79,727 and a two-year duration, with possible extension depending on performance and funding.
Eligibility highlights: PhD (or equivalent) required by start date, with no more than three years of post-degree research experience. Preferred background includes cell biology, biochemistry, genetics, genomics, yeast biology, quantitative biology, or systems biology, plus molecular cloning and yeast experience. Applicants must already be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.
Application deadline: final date 2026-11-15. Apply via the UC Berkeley AP Recruit portal and submit a CV, research statement, and two references.
