About this position
Postdoc opportunity at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, working in the Laboratory of Chemical Biology and the regional Expertise Center Clinical Chemistry Eindhoven.
The project focuses on targeted proteomics and protein biomarker standardization for lung cancer diagnostics. You will develop and validate robust LC-MS/MS reference methods and quantitative workflows for clinically relevant protein tumor markers such as CEA, NSE, and CYFRA21-1. The work includes immunoaffinity enrichment, bottom-up proteomics, SISCAPA-based workflows, peptide selection, calibration with stable-isotope-labelled standards, and evaluation of analytical performance (sensitivity, selectivity, recovery, matrix effects, precision, accuracy, robustness, and measurement uncertainty).
You will collaborate across academia, clinical chemistry, and industry with TU/e researchers, Catharina Hospital, Máxima Medical Center, Roche Diagnostics, and SISCAPA Assay Technologies. The role also involves analysis of serum and pleural-fluid samples, method transfer, SOP development, documentation, data analysis, publications, presentations, and support for PhD, Master, and Bachelor students.
Eligibility highlights: a PhD in analytical chemistry, proteomics, biochemistry, chemical biology, clinical chemistry, biomedical engineering, or a related field; hands-on experience in quantitative proteomics or LC-MS/MS bioanalysis; experience with triple-quadrupole MS and MRM/SRM or PRM is preferred; strong English communication skills are required. Dutch is not required.
Funding and conditions: full-time appointment for 2 years, salary €4,422–€5,760 gross/month (scale 10), plus holiday allowance, year-end bonus, pension, leave, training, and other employee benefits.
Application: apply online via the vacancy portal. Submit a cover letter, CV with publications, contact details for three references, and up to five best publications. The vacancy remains open until filled; incomplete applications may be rejected.
