The position sits in the One Health Antimicrobial Resistance (OHAR) research group led by Prof. Luca Guardabassi.
The postdoc will contribute to research and teaching activities in veterinary microbiology, with a strong focus on antimicrobial resistance, antimicrobial stewardship, veterinary bacteriology, whole-genome sequencing, genomic data analysis, and metagenomics. The successful candidate is expected to be physically present in the laboratory, oversee experiments involving PhD, MSc, and BSc students, and help strengthen evidence-based best practices in veterinary medicine. The project also includes work on reducing antimicrobial use in pigs, improving diagnostic and treatment protocols for endemic bacterial diseases, and contributing to clinical guidance for prudent antimicrobial use in pig medicine.
Eligibility highlights: MSc in Veterinary Medicine, PhD in Veterinary Microbiology or a closely related field, previous postdoctoral experience, strong publication record, excellent scientific communication, supervision experience, project coordination experience, and experience with bacterial whole-genome sequencing and genomic analysis. Desirable experience includes antimicrobial resistance research, metagenomics, routine bacteriological/mycological diagnostics, and proposal writing.
