About this position
This postdoctoral position at KTH Royal Institute of Technology focuses on advancing wireless MIMO communications for 6G networks. The research will address the physical and media access control layers of next-generation wireless systems, with emphasis on multi-antenna MIMO technology, including Gigantic MIMO, cell-free networks, near-field communications, and integrated communication and sensing (ISAC) for mid-band and higher frequencies. The project aims to develop new communication theory, concepts, and algorithms, leveraging methods from MIMO communication theory, array signal processing, optimization, and machine learning. The work is primarily theoretical, but KTH offers testbeds for potential experimental validation.
Successful candidates will join the world-leading research group of Professor Emil Björnson, an IEEE Fellow and Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher, at the Division of Communication Systems within the EECS school. The research is funded by external projects, providing opportunities for industry collaboration, particularly with the telecom sector. The group is recognized for its contributions to wireless communication and offers a dynamic, creative environment with attractive benefits and good working conditions.
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree or equivalent foreign degree, completed by the time of employment decision. Research proficiency is required, demonstrated by at least three articles published in top-tier scientific journals. Strong English communication skills, both oral and written, are essential. Preferred qualifications include a doctoral degree obtained within the last three years, research experience in MIMO communications, communication theory, machine learning, signal processing, and/or optimization, and evidence of collaboration and independent work. Awareness of diversity, gender equality, and equal treatment issues is important. Security clearance may be required for certain positions.
The position is full-time and limited to a maximum of three years. KTH is committed to equality, diversity, and equal opportunities, which are integral to its core values. The university offers a supportive environment for professional growth and development. Applicants are responsible for ensuring their application is complete according to the instructions in the ad. Required documents include a CV, diplomas and grades, translations if necessary, a brief research statement (max two pages), and a document highlighting five meritorious scientific articles, with at least three published in top-tier journals.
Applications must be submitted via KTH's recruitment system by June 3, 2026. For further information, contact Professor Emil Björnson at [email protected].
