The Centre de Disseny d'Equips Industrials (CDEI) at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) is inviting expressions of interest for a Ramón y Cajal 2026 postdoctoral position. This is a full-time, 5-year research appointment aimed at outstanding researchers who want to build an independent research programme while connecting with CDEI-UPC’s industrial, technological, and applied research environment.
The position is especially relevant for candidates working in robotics, AI, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, mechatronics, autonomous systems, computer vision, control engineering, advanced manufacturing, computational mechanics, smart agriculture, precision agriculture, and Industry 4.0. CDEI-UPC highlights opportunities in mobile and autonomous robotics, agricultural robotics, prototype development, industrial digitalisation, sustainable engineering, and technology transfer with industrial partners.
Funding is substantial: the programme offers a minimum gross salary of €40,000/year plus €200,000+ in research funding, with possible ERC salary top-ups of 10%–30%. The post is linked to the Spanish Ramón y Cajal career-development scheme and is intended to support long-term scientific growth and research independence.
Eligibility includes a PhD awarded between 1 January 2016 and 31 December 2024 (with extensions in specified cases such as disability or parental/care-related circumstances), no previous Ramón y Cajal grant, and compliance with Juan de la Cierva incompatibility rules. Applicants should have an excellent postdoctoral track record and be able to propose a feasible, innovative, high-impact research line aligned with CDEI-UPC.
How to apply: prepare a CV, a short research statement, your proposed research line, and evidence that you satisfy the Ramón y Cajal eligibility criteria. Applications are submitted by email to [email protected]. The deadline is 15 October 2026, 14:00 (Europe/Madrid).
Institutional context: CDEI-UPC offers access to an interdisciplinary research environment, industrial collaborations, prototype and demonstrator development, and strong support for positioning a competitive Ramón y Cajal proposal.
