About this position

University Medical Center Göttingen is advertising a Postdoc Position (f/m/d) in the Institut für Herz- und Kreislaufphysiologie. The project sits in a highly collaborative cardiovascular research environment at the Göttingen Campus and focuses on β-adrenergic signaling, cardiac physiology, molecular biology, cloning, and cardiac electrophysiology.

The research group studies the functional role of β-adrenergic receptors in individual nanodomains and their role in inter-organ communication between the heart and brain. The work combines photopharmacology and optogenetic stimulation to dissect subcellular signaling networks and heart-brain communication. The successful candidate will contribute to experiments involving endogenous receptor localization in cardiomyocytes, HaloTag membrane-anchored constructs, HEK cells, hiPSC-derived cardiomyocytes, isometric force measurements in ventricular slices from mice and humans, and all-optical experiments using opsins, photoswitches, and fluorescent sensors.

This is a full-time postdoctoral appointment (38.5 hours/week) for 2 years with the possibility of extension. Funding is provided through the UMG2032 - Excellence through Focus project, supported by zukunft.niedersachsen and the Volkswagen Foundation.

Applicants should hold a PhD in the life sciences (for example molecular medicine, biology, chemistry, or a related field). The post requires strong skills in cardiac physiology and molecular biology, fluent English, and preferably experience with cell culture, microscopy, large dataset analysis, and laboratory animal work. Certification for animal experimentation is desirable.

The position is based at the University Medical Center Göttingen in Germany. Applications should be submitted via the recruiting portal linked in the posting.
