About this position

Postdoctoral position in Quantum Machine Learning at the Computer Vision Center (CVC), Barcelona. The Quantum Machine Learning team (QML-CVC) at the Computer Vision Center, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona campus, is recruiting a postdoc for a 3-year full-time temporary contract starting ASAP, no later than 30 November 2026.

The research focus is Quantum Machine Learning, with emphasis on hybrid classical-quantum and quantum-inspired algorithms. The successful candidate will design and implement exploratory research directions connected to machine learning and computer vision, with possible topics including generative models, optimization tasks, and other application-driven research lines agreed with the supervisor. The position is embedded in the ML-QSIM project, a 4-year, 2M€ project funded by the Spanish Government, and involves collaboration with leading CSIC-associated institutions including CINN, INMA, and ICMM. The project also includes validation opportunities on a Rydberg platform.

Funding and conditions: The appointment offers a full-time 37.5h/week temporary contract with flexible working hours and a gross living allowance of 35,000–42,000 EUR per year depending on experience. The contract runs until the project end date of 30 November 2029.

Eligibility highlights: Candidates must hold a PhD in Quantum Information or Quantum Computing by the time of appointment, have experience in algorithm design and implementation, and possess a background in machine learning. Experience with PennyLane, Qiskit, or similar software libraries is welcome. Strong English communication skills are required, as well as the ability to work collaboratively while demonstrating initiative and independence. The selected postdoc is also expected to supervise PhD students.
