About this position

John Tsang at Yale University is hiring three postdocs in the Tsang Lab for research in systems immunology, computational biology, AI/ML, and immune cell trafficking/engineering.

The lab aims to build a quantitative, predictive understanding of the human immune system: how immune states vary between people, how immunity develops across the lifespan, and how immune responses might be engineered to detect and cure disease. The work spans large longitudinal human cohorts, deep single-cell and spatial multiomics, and modeling from generative AI to mechanistic circuit theory.

Open project areas: (1) AI/ML for human immunology, including population-scale multiomic and single-cell data, pediatric immunity, monogenic/IEI immune disorders, and the Immune Variation Project; (2) bridging top-down and bottom-up models, including joint models of mucosal and systemic immunity and causal/dynamical immune circuit modeling; (3) systems immunology of immune cell trafficking and engineering, combining mouse and human experiments with computation.

The positions are part of Yale CSEI, CZ Biohub NY, and the Human Immunome Project, with support from NIH, CZI, ARIA, CEPI, the Gates Foundation, and others. The lab emphasizes close collaboration between computational and experimental researchers, exceptional data resources, and an interdisciplinary environment.

Eligibility highlights: candidates with backgrounds in physics, applied math, quantitative biology, AI/ML, or related quantitative fields are especially encouraged for the modeling role. The post does not list formal degree, visa, or language requirements.

How to apply: send a CV and a short note describing what you would like to work on to John Tsang. Informal inquiries by DM are also welcomed.
