About this position
Forschungszentrum Jülich is advertising a PostDoc / Staff Scientist position in Machine Learning for Scientific Applications at the Institute for Advanced Simulation – Data Analytics and Machine Learning (IAS-8).
The role focuses on computer vision, machine learning, deep learning, image processing, and scientific AI for applications such as remote sensing, microscopy, plant sciences, health-care, MRI imaging, and other neuro- or bio-science-inspired problems. The team also works on uncertainty quantification, robustness, reliability, trustworthiness, and explainability of AI models, as well as foundation models and efficient training on high-performance computers such as JUPITER at the Jülich Supercomputing Centre.

What's required

Applicants should have rich experience in devising machine learning models, methods, and algorithms for computer vision, image processing, imaging, and/or physics-informed reconstruction, plus a strong scientific publication record at internationally renowned machine learning venues. A solid mathematical background, distinct analytical and numerical skills, strong programming skills in Python and C++, excellent teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration ability, very good communication skills, and very good written and spoken English at least at B2 level are required. German is not mandatory but is appreciated.
