About this position

Argonne National Laboratory is hiring a Postdoctoral Appointee in Bioimaging within the Microscopy group in the X-ray Science Division of the Advanced Photon Source (APS) in Lemont, Illinois, USA.

The role focuses on X-ray fluorescence tomography at beamlines 2-ID-E and 2-ID-D, with emphasis on bioimaging of soil aggregates and development of a computational framework for modeling and reconstruction of related 3D datasets. The successful candidate will help develop a novel multiscale, multimodal experimental apparatus with precise control during data acquisition and contribute to data processing pipelines adaptable to imaging of energy-conversion or biological systems.

This is a multidisciplinary position involving physicists, biologists, and engineers, with leadership in multimodal data analysis at APS beamlines. Strong candidates should have a recently completed or soon-to-be completed Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, materials science, engineering, or a related field, plus independent research ability, collaboration skills, analytical problem-solving, and strong communication skills. Experience with geological or biological systems, tomography, automation/control, instrument infrastructure, and Python or other scientific programming languages is a plus.

The appointment is full time and long-term fixed term. The posting lists an expected hiring range of $72,879 to $121,465 and notes comprehensive benefits. Applications are submitted through the Argonne Careers Workday portal.
