About this position

Argonne National Laboratory’s Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM) is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to work on single electron qubits on solid neon. The project focuses on advancing a new qubit platform by realizing high-fidelity two-qubit gates and studying quantum physics through local quantum experiments.

The postdoc will design single electron qubit devices, fabricate them in the CNM cleanroom, and characterize them in CNM quantum labs. The role involves close collaboration with CNM and Argonne scientists, as well as external collaborators.

Research areas / keywords: experimental physics, quantum information science, nanofabrication, superconducting devices, microwave and superconducting device characterization, low-temperature and cryogenic experiments, dilution refrigerator operation, electron qubit design and measurement.

Eligibility: recent or soon-to-be-completed PhD (within the last 0–5 years) in experimental physics, engineering, or a closely related field. Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative research environment are required. Preferred experience includes superconducting qubits, nanofabrication, low-temperature experiments, and cryogenic measurement systems.

Funding: full-time postdoctoral appointment with an expected salary range of $72,879–$121,465 plus comprehensive benefits.

Location: Lemont, Illinois, United States (Argonne National Laboratory).

How to apply: submit the application through the Workday link and upload a CV/resume, unofficial PhD transcripts, and a PhD diploma if already awarded.
