About this position

We are recruiting postdoctoral researchers for a multi-institutional initiative at the intersection of AI, genomics, conservation genomics, and biodiversity conservation under GAIA (Genomic Artificial Intelligence Applications).

One postdoc is at the Vertebrate Genome Laboratory, Rockefeller University, working with Erich Jarvis and Giulio Formenti on Jarvis, an AI tool for reference genome annotation.

A second postdoctoral associate position is at Cornell University in the lab of Ayshwarya Subramanian, focused on Genera, an AI system that uses multi-species genomic data to assess extinction risk and support conservation strategies.

The Cornell role is especially suited to candidates with strong backgrounds in computer science, bioinformatics, computational biology, electrical engineering, machine learning, deep learning, Python, and genomic data analysis. Experience with sequence modeling and interpretable AI methods is preferred.

The project is part of a broader collaborative network including Revive & Restore, the Vertebrate Genomes Project, Google AI Genomics, and other partners, and is supported by the Bezos Earth Fund.

Funding: Cornell lists a salary range of $63,480–$72,000. The post is described as supported by the Bezos Earth Fund.

Application: Cornell applications are submitted via Academic Jobs Online with a cover letter, CV, and three references. The Rockefeller position has its own application link.

Deadline: Cornell review is rolling until filled; the listing shows an application deadline of 2026-10-09.
