About this position

Duke University is hiring a Postdoctoral Associate in AI-guided antibiotic prodrug design within the Reker Lab at the Duke University Pratt School of Engineering.

This opportunity is ideal for researchers with interests in computational chemistry, cheminformatics, molecular machine learning, predictive modeling, and generative modeling for small molecules. The project focuses on generative design of small-molecule prodrugs and infection-responsive linker chemistries, prediction of bioactivity, prodrug activation, ADMET, and molecular properties, plus multi-objective optimization and prospective molecular design.

The postdoc will work in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment with medicinal chemists and microbiologists, contributing to iterative design–synthesize–test–learn workflows and downstream preclinical evaluation with international collaborators. The position is especially suited to a result-oriented scientist who wants computational predictions translated quickly into experimental outcomes.

Eligibility: Applicants should have completed a PhD by the appointment start date in computational chemistry, cheminformatics, chemistry, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, computer science, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field.

Funding: The role is supported by a newly funded Wellcome Leap Focused Antibiotics project. Salary/stipend details are not listed in the post.

Start date: Preferred immediately, with flexibility.

How to apply: Submit an application through the linked AcademicJobsOnline posting. Review the posting carefully and prepare the required materials before applying.
