About this position

The Economo Lab at the University of Maryland, College Park is recruiting a Postdoctoral Associate to work at the interface of biology and computer science. The project focuses on large-scale 3D phenotypic data from animals acquired via micro-CT and related imaging modalities, with opportunities to develop AI-powered segmentation and comparative methods for studying evolution, ecology, and trait variation.

The postdoc will be based at the University of Maryland, College Park and will collaborate closely with the Biodiversity and Biocomplexity unit at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology in Japan. Applicants should have a PhD in biology, bioinformatics, computer science, or a related field within the past 5 years, or expect to complete the PhD before starting. Strong computational skills are required; experience with 3D image data, segmentation, and/or comparative morphological analysis is preferred. The position includes independent and collaborative research, grant writing, mentoring, and lab management responsibilities.
