About this position

Postdoctoral Associate in Cardiac Physiology and Functional Genomics at The Jackson Laboratory in Farmington, Connecticut, United States.

The Hinson lab at The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine and UConn Health is recruiting a PhD-level scientist to study the mechanisms of inherited heart failure and other muscle disorders. The project sits at the intersection of cardiac physiology, functional genomics, human pluripotent stem cells, tissue engineering, genome editing, and multi-omics.

Possible research directions include: cardiac physiology in 3D engineered heart tissue (EHT) models using human iPSC-derived microtissues; mouse models of heart failure with echocardiography and molecular/histological phenotyping; large-scale in vivo genetic perturbation using pooled Perturb-seq-style approaches with single-cell and multi-omic readouts; and sarcomere assembly/function studies in collaboration with an international network of scientists.

Eligibility highlights: PhD or equivalent in cell biology, molecular biology, physiology, genetics, bioengineering, or a related field; strong background in stem cell differentiation, cardiac or muscle physiology, mouse disease models, CRISPR genome editing, or single-cell genomics; and strong publication record plus communication skills. Experience with advanced imaging, protein-protein interaction studies, or sequencing-data analysis is preferred.

Funding: full-time postdoctoral appointment with a salary range of $65,589–$75,569/year depending on postdoc experience.

Application materials requested: CV, at least two letters of reference, and a one-page maximum statement of Research Interests and Career Goals. Deadline: 17 Nov 2026.
