About this position

Yale University School of Medicine is hiring a Postdoctoral Associate at the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence (YCEI), part of the Child Study Center. This postdoctoral opening is ideal for researchers in emotion science, emotional intelligence, psychometrics, psychological assessment, affective science, well-being, and digital/app-based research.

The position sits within a funded research portfolio focused on the development and validation of new measures of emotional skills and emotion-related mindsets, the mechanisms and moderators of emotion-focused interventions, and large-scale digital studies. The team is also supporting Yale’s new Emotional Intelligence MOOC on Coursera, which will be used for large-scale research and validation work.

Responsibilities include data preparation and management, advanced statistical analysis, literature reviews, and preparation of research articles and academic presentations. There are also opportunities for manuscript and grant writing and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.

Required qualifications include a PhD in psychology or a closely related field, demonstrated interest in emotion or affective science, emotional intelligence, psychological well-being, or psychometric assessment research, and strong quantitative skills. Experience with regression, SEM, and MLM is required, while measurement development, factor analysis, validation studies, large datasets, longitudinal/intervention designs, digital research platforms, machine learning, AI, and large language models are preferred or considered a plus.

The anticipated start date is September 1, 2026. The salary is no less than $68,500, with Yale postdoctoral compensation and benefits available.
