About this position

Postdoctoral Associate in Engineering Education Research at Cornell University (Nancy E. and Peter C. Meinig School of Biomedical Engineering).

This postdoctoral position is part of a national, multi-institutional engineering education research collaboration supported by an NIH R25 award. The project focuses on quantitative studio pedagogy, engineering learning, feedback systems, and the development of a shared longitudinal research data resource across participating institutions.

The postdoc will help lead network development, coordinate research protocols and assessment, build collaborations with engineering faculty, and conduct original analyses for first-author publications. The role also includes designing, delivering, and refining engineering Studios, translating disciplinary content into quantitative modeling, simulation, sensitivity analysis, and evidence-based engineering decision-making activities.

Research interests include engineering education, biomedical engineering, quantitative modeling, data analysis, and computational/AI-enabled feedback. The associate will examine engineering reasoning, student work products, instructional practice, and learning outcomes across courses, cohorts, and institutional contexts.

Eligibility highlights: PhD in engineering, engineering education, or a closely related quantitative discipline; experience with quantitative models and programming for research data management; strong writing and independent research ability. Prior education research experience is helpful but not required.

Funding: funded postdoctoral appointment with a hiring rate of $63,480 and a stated pay range of $62,232 to $88,745.

Location: Ithaca, New York, United States.

How to apply: Submit a CV, cover letter describing quantitative modeling and research interests, and 3 examples of work/references via AcademicJobsOnline. Contact Professor Jonathan Butcher at [email protected] for inquiries.
