About this position

Postdoctoral Associate | Beck Lab at The Jackson Laboratory in Farmington, Connecticut, USA.

The Beck Lab at the Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine and the University of Connecticut Health Center is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to work on genomics, transcriptomics, structural variants, bioinformatics, and computational biology. The lab studies variation within repetitive and complex regions of mammalian genomes and investigates the mechanisms and consequences of structural variants across human and mammalian organisms.

The role combines wet-lab and computational work: analyzing existing genomic and transcriptomic datasets, identifying novel loci of interest, running laboratory experiments to test genomic variation, and contributing to manuscript and grant writing. The postdoc will also present results, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and help with project planning, data curation, documentation, and reproducible statistical analysis.

Eligibility highlights: PhD in Physiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field; strong publication record; excellent communication and teamwork; ability to work independently; willingness to learn Python or R and common bioinformatics tools. Experience with cell culture, especially iPSCs, is a plus. Bonus skills include structural variation knowledge, computational libraries for tabular/statistical analysis, HPC cluster workflows, and Linux command-line experience.

Funding: The post includes a salary scale for postdoctoral experience years, ranging from $65,589 to $75,569.

How to apply: Submit a CV, at least two letters of reference, and a one-page statement through the application link. No deadline was stated in the post.
