About this position

Rutgers University is recruiting a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Microbiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics within the New Jersey Medical School (NJMS), Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS), in Newark, New Jersey, United States.

The lab’s research centers on host-pathogen interactions and host-microbiome interactions in the context of metabolic disease, autoimmune disease, and oncologic disease. The project uses a combination of molecular biology, cell signaling, immunology, and multi-omics approaches, with particular interest in how viral and microbial factors modulate host receptors, immune responses, and metabolic pathways.

The postdoctoral researcher will lead independent projects, perform in vivo and in vitro experiments, analyze high-dimensional data, and contribute to grant writing and manuscript preparation. Duties also include mammalian cell culture, receptor signaling assays, mouse work, molecular/immunological techniques, maintaining detailed lab records, and supporting trainees and staff.

Eligibility: a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Immunology, Microbiology, or a closely related field is required. Preferred experience includes receptor signaling, immunology, host-pathogen interactions, mouse models, mammalian cell culture, cloning, qPCR, Western blotting, gene editing, flow cytometry, and data analysis with GraphPad Prism, R, or Python.

Funding: the posting lists a salary range and notes that the final offer depends on qualifications and available department or grant funds. Rutgers also offers standard employee benefits.

How to apply: use the Rutgers application portal linked in the posting and submit the required CV. A cover letter and certifications/licenses may also be uploaded if applicable.
