About this position

Postdoctoral Associate position at the University of Florida (Gainesville, Florida) in immuno-engineering, biomaterials, immunology, and biomedical engineering. The project focuses on developing novel biomaterial-based immunotherapeutics and immune-modulatory biomaterial particles designed to attenuate aberrant immune responses in rheumatoid arthritis.

The successful candidate will work in the laboratory of Dr. Jamal Lewis and collaborate with materials scientists, chemists, immunologists, and faculty in the Biomedical Engineering department, UF College of Medicine, and UF College of Pharmacy. Research activities include particle synthesis, in-vitro and in-vivo validation, and translational pathway design.

Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in immunology, immunology-related life sciences, or a closely allied field; hands-on experience in autoimmune disease models or adaptive immune modulation; and the ability to integrate materials science with biologic assays. Applicants should also have strong teamwork, written and oral communication skills, and a strong publication record. Preferred experience includes biomedical imaging modalities, small animal procedures, and a strong graduate research track record.

The position is full-time, with an expected salary of $60,000. It is initially for one year and may be renewed for an additional year depending on performance and funding availability.
