About this position

The Department of Neurosurgery at the University at Buffalo is recruiting a Postdoctoral Associate for an interdisciplinary research program in image-guided navigation for neurovascular interventions.

The project centers on developing and evaluating medical imaging and artificial intelligence methods for vascular mapping and navigation using computed tomography (CT) and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) data. The postdoc will work with clinicians, engineers, and research collaborators to advance robotic neurovascular intervention research, validate algorithms, and disseminate results through publications and presentations.

Research activities include image-based methods for neurovascular mapping, processing CT/DSA data, developing machine learning and reinforcement learning approaches, designing experiments and quantitative validation strategies, integrating imaging and vascular anatomy information, and contributing to manuscripts and grant materials.

Eligibility highlights: PhD in biomedical engineering or a related engineering field; experience in medical imaging research; AI/ML research experience; strong statistical skills; peer-reviewed publications; and strong communication and teamwork skills. Preferred experience includes clinical/translational research, collaboration with clinicians, knowledge of neurovascular anatomy and cerebrovascular disease, CT/DSA familiarity, reinforcement learning, statistical modeling, and mentoring graduate students.

Funding: Full-time postdoctoral appointment with a listed salary range of 60000.00. The post does not mention tuition or fee waivers.

Location: Buffalo, New York, United States.

Deadline: Open until filled; posting date shown as 2026-08-19 and date to be filled 2026-09-15.
