About this position
University of Wollongong is advertising a postdoctoral Associate Research Fellow in the Discipline of Geography and Sustainability, School of Social Sciences, Faculty of Arts, Society and Business. The project is part of an Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Project examining how Australia's maritime ports are sustained as critical infrastructure amid environmental, economic, technological, and geopolitical change.
The role is designed for an early career researcher who wants to develop and lead an original program of postdoctoral research while working with leading researchers, industry stakeholders, and government partners. The successful candidate will conduct field-based research, including stakeholder engagement, data collection, analysis, and interpretation, and will produce journal publications, conference presentations, and policy-focused research translation outputs.

A PhD or evidence of near completion in Human Geography, Planning, Industrial Relations, Environmental Studies, Transport Studies, Sociology, Political Science, Anthropology or a related social science discipline. Applicants should have demonstrated ability to develop and undertake original research in collaborative environments, experience with mixed-methods approaches such as interviews, ethnography, surveys, focus groups and/or document analysis, a developing track record of publications and presentations, and strong communication, organisational and stakeholder engagement skills.
