About this position

Postdoctoral Fellow in Advanced 3D Tissue Models, Exosomes and Secretomics at the University of Oslo (Faculty of Dentistry, Institute of Clinical Dentistry, Biomaterial Science/BIOMAT).

This postdoctoral opening focuses on biomaterials, oral biology, tissue regeneration, secretomics, and extracellular vesicles/exosomes. The project develops and applies advanced 3D in vitro models such as spheroids, organoids, tissue-engineered constructs, and potentially microfluidic/organ-on-a-chip and bioprinted systems to study disease mechanisms and biomaterial–cell interactions.

The successful candidate will work on advanced cell culture, molecular biology, microscopy, high-multiplex protein assays, and omics-oriented data integration. The role also includes scientific writing, publication preparation, grant support, and collaboration within BIOMAT and related research groups.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD in a relevant field such as Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Tissue Engineering, Regenerative Medicine, or Biomaterials; documented experience with mammalian cell culture and 3D models; experience with secretome/secretomics, exosomes, proteomics, or related molecular methods; experience with multiplex cytokine/biomarker assays; and strong English communication skills.

Desirable experience includes spheroids, organoids, clinical samples/biopsies, confocal or advanced 3D imaging, biomaterials, oral biology, regenerative medicine, microfluidics, organ-on-a-chip, bioprinting, and omics analysis tools.

Funding and terms: 3-year postdoctoral appointment with salary in the range of NOK 595,000–690,000, plus standard Norwegian public-sector benefits. The position requires daily physical presence at the institution.

Application deadline: 18 October 2026. Apply via Jobbnorge with the required documents: application letter, CV, publication list, project description, transcripts/certificates, and 2–3 references.

What's required

PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Tissue Engineering, Regenerative Medicine, Biomaterials, or a closely related field. Documented experience with mammalian cell culture and 3D in vitro models, including the CelVivo system or a similar rotational system, is required. Experience with secretome/secretomics, extracellular vesicles/exosomes, proteomics, or related molecular approaches is required. Applicants should also have documented experience optimizing, validating, and executing high-multiplex protein panels for cytokine and biomarker quantification across biological matrices, experience with microscopy and cellular or molecular characterization, and good oral and written English communication skills. Desirable experience includes spheroids, organoids, tissue-engineered models, omics data analysis, clinical samples/biopsies, confocal or advanced 3D imaging, biomaterials, oral biology, regenerative medicine, microfluidics, organ-on-a-chip systems, and bioprinting.

How to apply

Prepare an application letter, CV, complete publication list, project description, transcripts and certificates, and contact details for 2-3 references. Submit the CV in Jobbnorge’s CV form and upload the application with attachments through the Jobbnorge recruitment system. Use Vitnemålsportalen if available, or upload transcripts/grades in English or a Scandinavian language.
