About this position

Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) is advertising a Postdoctoral Fellow in Aerosol Chemistry in the Laboratory of Atmospheric Chemistry in Villigen, Switzerland.

The position focuses on advanced online mass spectrometry and aerosol chemistry, including work with AMS, online Orbitrap-MS, VOCUS-PTR, and MIPTOF. The successful candidate will contribute to ambient measurements in polluted areas, source apportionment, investigations of atmospheric processes, and chamber/flowtube experiments with emphasis on solid fuel combustion and mixed-source experiments.

This is a research-intensive postdoctoral role suited to experienced researchers with a PhD in Atmospheric Science or a closely related area. PSI highlights the need for strong expertise in aerosol mass spectrometric methods, data analysis, programming (e.g. Python), publication experience, and excellent English communication skills. The role also includes publication output and support/co-supervision of other postdoctoral fellows and PhD students during campaigns.

The appointment is initially for two years with the possibility of extension. PSI describes its environment as interdisciplinary and innovative, with training and development opportunities and modern employment conditions.

Application deadline: 5 August 2026.

How to apply: Apply online via the PSI job portal and include your publication list and referee contacts.
