About this position
Weill Cornell Medicine is recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow in AI for Cardiovascular Imaging in the Department of Radiology, supervised by Dr. Gregory Holste in the Holste Lab. The position focuses on building clinically translatable AI for echocardiography interpretation, with research directions including foundation models for echocardiography, multimodal learning across cardiac ultrasound, CT, MRI, ECG, EHR, and reports, and rigorous validation for clinical use.
The role is highly interdisciplinary and involves collaboration with cardiologists, sonographers, and researchers across Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian. The lab emphasizes real-world clinical data, reproducible pipelines, external and multi-site validation, subgroup and fairness analyses, and potential prospective deployment studies. No prior cardiology experience is required, making this a strong opportunity for candidates from AI, computer vision, biomedical engineering, or related quantitative fields who want to work at the interface of machine learning and medicine.
Eligibility highlights: Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field; alternatively, an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. with equivalent technical depth may be considered. Applicants should have strong deep learning and computer vision experience, proficiency in Python and a modern ML framework, and experience training models at scale on multi-GPU clusters. Preferred backgrounds include biomedical imaging, ultrasound, cardiology, DICOM/EHR data, self-supervised learning, foundation models, and multimodal or vision-language modeling.
Funding and terms: The appointment is for one year and renewable annually, with funding available for up to three years. The posted minimum salary is $75,812 based on experience, with benefits through Weill Cornell Medicine. Visa options may include J-1 and H-1B eligibility.
Application: Apply via the Google Form with your CV, personal information, links to key papers, and two references. Applications submitted by February 1, 2027 receive full consideration, and the position remains open until filled.
