About this position

Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Cardiovascular Tissue Engineering / Vascularization at the Melero-Martin Laboratory (Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Harvard Stem Cell Institute).

The lab is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to join a cardiovascular tissue engineering program focused on building vascular networks within cardiac tissue constructs. The research centers on engineering perfusable microvascular networks, generating and assembling iPSC-derived vascular cells, and integrating vasculature into engineered heart tissues.

This opportunity sits within a larger multi-institutional collaboration involving leading bioengineering and cardiac surgery groups. The lab’s broader research spans vascular biology, iPSC-derived endothelial cells, therapeutic vascularization, and regenerative medicine. Day-to-day work will involve human iPSC culture, endothelial cell biology, biomaterials, and in vivo models.

Eligibility highlights: Ph.D., Sc.D., or equivalent degree (or near completion); strong publication record with first-authored peer-reviewed papers preferred; experience with stem cell culture, cell biology, and animal models highly desirable; experience with iPSCs, endothelial cells, vascular biology, biomaterials, hydrogels, or 3D culture systems is a plus. The ideal candidate is independent, self-motivated, ethical, and strong in scientific writing and communication.

Funding: Salary will be commensurate with experience.

How to apply: Send a CV, a brief statement of current and future career goals, and contact information for three references to Dr. Melero-Martin at [email protected]. More information is available on the lab opportunities page and the linked post.
