About this position
Postdoctoral Fellow in Decision Science at the University of Melbourne, Faculty of Business and Economics, based in Parkville, Melbourne, Australia.
This is a full-time, fixed-term postdoctoral role for 2 years in the Centre for Brain, Mind & Markets, embedded within the Department of Finance. The position sits at the intersection of decision science, finance, neuroscience, psychology, computer science, machine learning, and computational methods.
The successful candidate will conduct advanced research, produce high-quality publications, design and maintain analytical pipelines, and develop production-grade digital platforms that translate research outputs into ethical real-world applications. The role also includes teaching in relevant undergraduate and postgraduate subjects and co-supervising Honours, Masters, and PhD students.
Applicants should hold a PhD in finance, economics, neuroscience, computer science, psychology, or a related quantitative discipline. Strong research output, advanced machine learning and statistical modelling skills, data analysis experience, and familiarity with modern software development practices are expected. Collaboration across interdisciplinary teams is central to the role.
Salary is Level B/1: $124,656–$148,023 per annum plus 17% superannuation, with additional benefits such as salary packaging, health and wellbeing support, discounted services, and professional development opportunities.

Funding details
