About this position

Postdoctoral Fellow opportunity in digital platforms, integrated energy systems, machine learning, optimization, and AI at The University of British Columbia (UBC Point Grey Campus, Vancouver).

The position is with Mérida Labs and focuses on digitalization projects built around the UBC Smart Hydrogen Energy District, a city-scale testbed integrating renewable energy and hydrogen technologies. The research aims to develop digital platforms that generate novel datasets and models for questions in energy transition, decarbonization, and climate targets. The group also works with industry partners such as Siemens, TransLink, BC Hydro, and FortisBC.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. completed within the last 3 years in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, data science, mathematics, or a related field. Strong programming skills (Python, C++, Java, SQL, MATLAB), Git, machine learning/deep learning, data analysis, and optimization experience are required. Experience with digital twin platforms, smart grid technologies, electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, transportation modelling, and scripting for automation is desirable.

The fellowship is for one year and may be renewed based on performance. Applications are reviewed immediately and the position is open until filled. To apply, send a cover letter and CV to Dr. Paolo Marcazzan at [email protected].
