About this position

Postdoctoral Fellow, Health Services Research at Harvard Medical School, Department of Health Care Policy.

This postdoctoral opening is for a highly motivated researcher with interests in health services research, maternal health, health policy, and quantitative analysis of large administrative datasets. The fellow will work with Prof. Leila Agha and an interdisciplinary team of economists, physicians, and health policy researchers.

The project uses a national dataset of Medicaid claims to study how insurance coverage and payment policy shape birth outcomes, health care spending, patterns of care, and maternal well-being. The work may include descriptive analyses and quasi-experimental studies of policy changes, with the goal of producing several focused papers relevant to Medicaid and maternal health policy.

Eligibility highlights: Ph.D. in health services research, health policy, economics, statistics, or a related quantitative field. Applicants should have strong skills in Stata, R, and/or Python, experience with complex data and large claims datasets, and strong scientific writing/publication experience.

Funding: salaried and benefits eligible. Salary depends on years since PhD. The appointment is for one year with possible renewal for a second year depending on performance, business need, and continued funding.

How to apply: submit a CV, research summary of PhD work, cover letter describing interest in the lab, and contact information for two references through the Harvard posting.

Start date: expected around April 1, 2026, with flexibility to start earlier.
