About this position
A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Department of Imaging Physics at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, in the laboratory of Kristy Brock, Ph.D. The Morfeus Lab focuses on deformable image registration, artificial intelligence (AI), biomechanical modeling, and image-guided cancer therapy technologies, with strong emphasis on clinical translation and collaborative research.
The successful candidate will work on computational research projects in image-guided cancer therapy, including image-guided liver surgery, image-guided head and neck surgery, cancer risk assessment and outcomes prediction using AI, validation of in vivo imaging signals using correlative pathology, image-guided focal liver ablation, and dose accumulation for personalized adaptive radiation therapy.
Training will include imaging physics, data mining, predictive modeling, clustering, classification, and deep learning in large data environments. The fellow will also help coordinate research and clinical collaborations, integrate models into clinical workflows, and communicate results through abstracts, posters, podium presentations, and publications.
Eligibility: applicants should have a PhD in natural sciences, computer science, engineering, or a related field, or a medical degree. Preferred experience includes machine learning, deep learning, statistical modeling, biomechanical modeling, and image registration/analysis.
