About this position

MD Anderson Cancer Center is advertising a Postdoctoral Fellow position in Molecular Oncology in Houston, Texas, United States.

The project focuses on a newly defined metabolic-immune circuit that drives resistance to immune checkpoint inhibitors in melanoma. The fellow will study the pathway linking ICI-induced inflammation, hepatic PAH degradation, systemic phenylalanine accumulation, neutrophil GRIK1-CaMKIV-STING signaling, and CD8+ T cell exhaustion. The work includes testing clinically compatible interventions such as hepatocyte-targeted HULC RNA mimetics and repurposed topiramate.

Research methods and systems include genetically engineered and humanized mouse models, patient-derived melanoma models, hiPSC-derived hepatocytes, RNA therapeutic delivery, multiplex spatial proteomics, bulk RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, flow cytometry, phospho-flow, CyTOF, ELISA, Seahorse assays, CRISPR/Cas9 editing, immunoblotting, and in vitro kinase assays.

Eligibility requires a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD (or expected within six months) in immunology, cancer biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, or a related field. Applicants should have at least one first-author publication and hands-on experience with in vivo tumor studies, mouse colony management, genotyping, IACUC compliance, multicolor flow cytometry, and core molecular/biochemical techniques. Strong English communication and the ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary team are also required.

The position is full-time and offers a salary of $64,000 to $76,000 depending on postgraduate experience, plus benefits including medical, dental, paid time off, retirement, tuition benefits, and educational opportunities.
