About this position

Łukasiewicz Research Network – PORT Polish Center for Technology Development is recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow in Neurodegeneration for the P4Health Centre of Excellence in Precise Phenotyping and BioDataBanking for Personalised Brain Health in Wrocław, Poland.

This is an interdisciplinary, translation-oriented research opportunity focused on astrocyte pathology, protein quality control (PQC), and the mechanisms driving Alzheimer’s disease and related neurodegenerative disorders. The project aims to discover and validate novel therapeutic concepts to counteract brain disorder symptoms, with a strong emphasis on mechanism-driven research, human model systems, and cell reprogramming approaches.

According to the advertisement, the successful candidate will investigate astrocytic PQC in neurodegeneration using state-of-the-art human model systems to study the origin and progression of Alzheimer’s disease pathology. The broader P4Health initiative advances Predictive, Preventive, Personalized, and Participatory (P4) approaches in health and medicine and brings together complementary expertise in nervous system pathomechanisms, prototype drug discovery, and translational development.

The position is a full-time temporary postdoc contract (1.0 FTE) with a salary of 10,000–14,000 PLN gross per month. Additional benefits include co-financing of private medical care and a sports/wellness card, the option to join group life insurance, Social Benefits Fund support, participation in international conferences and workshops, active mentorship, and work in a modern green science campus environment with free on-site parking.

Applicants should hold a PhD in neuroscience, cell biology, molecular biology, biomedical sciences, or a related field, or have a dissertation due within three months of the application date. Required experience includes cell culture, molecular biology techniques, and prior work on neurodegeneration and/or protein quality control. Desirable strengths include human cell reprogramming, pharmacological or genetic approaches, international training or work experience, and bioinformatics.

The role is intended for researchers with no more than five years since PhD award, calculated from the year of the degree and allowing for qualifying interruptions in research. The position starts on 1 October 2026, and the application deadline is 30 August 2026.

To apply, candidates should use the online application form and provide a CV with publication list, a motivation letter, a PhD diploma or expected defense information, and contact details for two referees. The recruitment notice states that only selected candidates will be contacted.
