About this position

CFA Postdoctoral Fellow – Center for Pandemic Decision Science at The University of Texas at Austin is an immediate postdoctoral opening in the Department of Integrative Biology and the Meyers Lab / epiENGAGE.

The project focuses on infectious disease modeling, especially the spread, surveillance, forecasting, and control of influenza and other infectious diseases. The work aims to improve outbreak preparedness and response across the United States by developing mathematical and computational tools for epidemiological decision science.

The fellow will work under the primary supervision of Professor Lauren Ancel Meyers. The post is suited to candidates with strong quantitative training in statistics, machine learning, AI, operations research, optimization, mathematical modeling, and/or infectious disease epidemiology.

Required qualifications include a completed PhD within the last 3 years in a quantitative science, statistics, computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a related field. The role also requires the ability to work quickly on time-sensitive analyses and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team. Preferred experience includes designing, validating, and applying outbreak dynamics and control models, plus collaboration with communities and public health professionals.

Funding details: this is a one-year position with possible renewal based on funding and performance, includes a full-time benefits package, and offers a salary of $70,000+ depending on qualifications.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed through an accelerated video interview and decision process. To apply, submit the required materials in Workday: CV, cover letter, three letters of reference, and PhD verification.
