About this position
Saint Louis University is advertising a postdoctoral fellow position in a multidisciplinary research lab focused on pediatric intestinal failure, short bowel syndrome, parenteral nutrition associated injury, bile acid signaling, microbiome-related mechanisms, epithelial biology, and liver injury.
The project studies how intestinal nutrient exposure, microbial metabolites, epithelial signaling, and gut-liver communication regulate intestinal adaptation, barrier function, inflammation, liver disease, and other systemic processes. The fellow will work across complementary experimental systems, including neonatal large animal models, intestinal epithelial organoid-derived cultures, liver organoid or liver-derived cell systems, human tissue-based studies, and molecular and multi-omic assays.
Responsibilities include experimental planning, data collection and analysis, interpretation of results, laboratory record keeping, protocol development, quality control, figure and manuscript preparation, conference presentations, and support for grant reports and future grant applications. The role involves collaboration with pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, pathology, microbiology, immunology, surgery, veterinary medicine, bioinformatics, and core facilities.
Applicants should hold a PhD, MD, MD/PhD, DVM, or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field such as biology, physiology, molecular biology, microbiology, immunology, pathology, biomedical sciences, or nutrition. Experience with cell culture, organoid systems, molecular biology, animal models, gastrointestinal biology, liver biology, microbiome research, histology, transcriptomics, metabolomics, or bioinformatics is desirable; large animal experience is helpful.
The position is based at Saint Louis University in the United States. Application materials requested are a cover letter, CV, and contact information for three references. Apply via the Workday portal linked in the post.
