About this position

Stockholm University is advertising a Postdoctoral Fellow in Sleep and Circadian Rhythms in Cognition and Behaviour within the Department of Psychology. The position is embedded in a research programme led by Associate Professor Leonie Balter and connected to research interests in sleep, chronobiology, cognitive neuroscience, psychology, mental health, digital behaviour, ADHD, and dopamine-related processes.

The project focuses on how circadian rhythms influence cognitive functioning and symptoms across the day and between individuals, and how these processes interact with brain function, behaviour, and treatment response. The postdoc will work with large and longitudinal datasets, multimodal data (subjective, behavioural, cognitive, biological, neural, and digital measures), and advanced statistical methods. The role also includes designing and conducting data collections, coordinating participant recruitment and data acquisition, leading manuscript writing, presenting findings, and contributing to student supervision and a collaborative research environment.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a doctoral degree (Swedish or equivalent) completed by the employment decision date. Strong research skills are important, and recent PhD completion is advantageous. The ideal candidate has experience in time-series analysis, longitudinal analysis, machine learning, chronobiology protocols such as constant routine or forced desynchrony, and is willing to do night/weekend work in sleep lab studies. Excellent English is required; experience with experience sampling, wearable/mobile data, and neuroimaging (PET, fMRI, EEG, eye-tracking) is desirable.

Funding and terms: this is a full-time paid postdoctoral employment for two years, with possible extension under special circumstances. Salary is individually set.

Application window: published 2026-04-24; deadline 2026-05-22. Apply via Stockholm University’s recruitment system and submit a personal letter, CV, and requested attachments.
