About this position

The Hankore Lab at Wayne State University is recruiting for Fall 2026. The lab is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow and also welcoming graduate students interested in joining the group.

Research in the lab sits at the interface of chemistry and biology, with emphasis on protein engineering, directed evolution, chemical biology, activity-based probes, enzymatic reconstitution, organic synthesis, biocatalysis, green chemistry, natural product chemistry, and microbiology. Current research directions include sustainability, kinase-targeted drug development, natural product discovery, and elucidation of biosynthetic pathways.

The postdoctoral position is in the Department of Chemistry at Wayne State University and focuses on applying synthetic chemistry and directed evolution to engineer biocatalysts for polymer production, as well as developing new biochemical assays for drug discovery. Applicants should have Ph.D.-level training in synthetic organic chemistry or biochemistry; experience in both is strongly preferred.

Graduate students interested in the Hankore Lab should apply to the Wayne State University Graduate Program in Chemistry and contact the PI during the application process. The post does not mention funding details or a deadline beyond Fall 2026.

To apply for the postdoc, email the PI with a CV, a 1-page cover letter, and a 1-page research summary, and arrange for at least two recommendation letters to be sent on your behalf. Graduate applicants should use the university application site and follow up with the PI.

Funding details

Full funding including tuition fees and living expenses is available for this position. The scholarship covers all educational costs and provides a monthly stipend.
